The Quickest Way to Apply for Social Security Disability Benefits
The quickest way to apply for Social Security Disability benefits for most Claimants is online. My name is Kaitlin Wildoner, and I’m an attorney who helps disabled individuals obtain their Social Security disability benefits as quickly as possible so they can focus on getting better. Today we’re going to talk about how to quickly apply for Social Security Disability benefits online.
Apply for Disability Benefits Quickly Online
First and foremost, when you search online, you want to make sure you are on the Social Security Administration’s official website, not some random website. Their website is ssa.gov. You want to make sure you’re on their website because you’re providing very private information, you’re providing your social, your date of birth, your work history, and sometimes even your bank account information.
Information to Have When You Apply Online
When you go to apply, you want to make sure you have a list of all of your treating doctors, including when you first started seeing the doctor, when you most recently saw the doctor, you want their phone number, their address. You also want to know what kind of tests they have done, if they’ve ever ordered a CT and MRI, blood tests, and EEG and EKG, the date that the testing was done. You also want to know what medications the doctor has prescribed, the name of the medications, what are the medications for, do you have any side effects from the medications? You want to have all of that information handy, so you can quickly apply for disability benefits.
You also want to have a list of all of your jobs for the last 15 years. You want to have your job title, the type of industry it was in, when you started, when you stopped, how much money you made, what were your job duties, how much weight did you lift, what was required of you on a daily basis. You want that employer information going back 15 years.
Finally, if you have a bank account where you plan to receive benefits, have that information handy. Again, make sure you are on ssa.gov before inputting that information online. Social Security does ask for that information, so if you are approved for benefits, SSA has that information and they can process the benefits directly to that bank account.
