Top Three Things to Do While Waiting for Your SSDI Hearing
Did you recently request a hearing in your SSDI or SSI case and you’re wondering what to do while you’re waiting for the hearing date?
My name is Kaitlin Wildoner and I’m an attorney who helps disabled clients obtain their disability benefits as quickly as possible so they can focus on getting better.
In this video, we’re going to talk about three things that you should think about doing while waiting for your Social Security Disability hearing.
Number one, continue with your medical care (if you are currently seeing doctors for your conditions). Try as best you can to continue to keep your appointments and communicate with your doctors during those appointments about what is happening with your conditions, including whether you have any medication side effects, limitations with activities, etc. You may also want to let them know that you have applied for Social Security disability benefits and are currently waiting for your hearing as they may be able to help you. They may be able to indicate your limitations in your chart and they may also be willing to complete forms to help Social Security better understand your limitations and capabilities.
Number two, you’ll want to pay attention to the limitations and the accommodations that you make for your conditions. This can be helpful for you to understand what impact your conditions have truly had on your ability to function.
Number three, always be honest with your care team, your lawyer, and with Social Security. It’s important that everyone is on the same page.
