How to Increase Your Chances of Being Approved for Social Security Disability Benefits
Are you wondering if you can increase your chances of being approved for Social Security Disability benefits?
My name is Kaitlin Wildoner, and I’m an attorney who helps disabled clients obtain their disability benefits as quickly as possible so they can focus on getting better.
In this video, we discuss some ways that you may be able to improve your chances of receiving a Social Security Disability approval letter.
1. Hire an Experienced Social Security Disability Attorney
Having a knowledgeable attorney on your side can significantly increase your chances of approval, as they understand the process and can ensure that your application is complete and compelling.
2. Ensure Your Disability Application Is Complete and Accurate
Provide comprehensive details about your condition and how it prevents you from working, as well as all of the doctors and medical professionals that you have seen in the last few years.
3. File Your Disability Claim As Soon As Possible
The sooner you apply, the better, as the process can sometimes take months and even years.
4. Maintain Complete and Accurate Medical Documentation
Gather all relevant:
- Medical records
- Test results
- Statements from your doctors
…that can support your disability claim.
You will also want to make sure you have a list of all of the doctors that you have seen in the last few years leading up to your complete disabling condition and inability to work, so that you can provide that information to the Social Security Administration. This ensures they have as complete of a picture as possible.
5. Follow Recommended Medical Treatments or Seek a Second Opinion
If you have concerns about the course of action that your doctor is recommending, it’s important to either follow the treatment or seek a second opinion.
6. Avoid Working or Earning Too Much Income
Demonstrating that you are unable to work due to your condition is critical for both SSDI and SSI claims.
