How Social Media Can Impact Your Social Security Disability Claim
Are you wondering about the impact of social media on your current Social Security disability claim?
My name is Kaitlin Wildoner, and I’m an attorney who helps disabled clients obtain their disability benefits as quickly as possible so they can focus on getting better.
In today’s video, we will discuss some general social media dos and don’ts, with a slight focus on Social Security disability claims.
1. Set Your Social Media Profiles to Private
Limit who can view your posts and information. I typically recommend that you only allow your trusted friends and family to view your social media content.
2. Be Cautious About What You Post
Be especially careful about posting anything related to:
- Physical activities
- Travel
- Or anything that could be misconstrued as being inconsistent with your claimed disability or disabilities
3. Avoid Discussing Your Disability Claim Online
In general, it may be wise to altogether avoid discussing your disability claim on your social media profiles. It is sometimes easy for things to be misconstrued or misunderstood.
4. Think Before You Share
Remember that even innocent posts or photos can be taken out of context, so think carefully before sharing anything online during the claims process.
